GENE O’QUIN Boogie Woogie Fever BCD 16194 -AH
Now here’s an overdue release. Gene O’Quin was a Texas-born, California-based honky tonk singer who died before he could garner much acclaim for uptempo stomps like Pinball Millionaire, Too Hot To Handle, That Mobilin’ Baby Of Mine, and many other sides that have become collector favorites over the years. Here, Bear Family has carefully selected Gene’s best sides from his Capitol and Intro recordings (1950-1955). The 30 songs included not only feature some of the best west coast recordings from those years, but also the cream of jazz-oriented Capitol studio vets, Speedy West, Jimmy Bryant, Merle Travis, Billy Liebert, Harold Hensley, and others. This is sharp, swinging, personable music that deserves a wider audience. Fans of rockabilly, west coast country and Texas honky tonk music should snap it up.

THE OFFENDERS (Willie Nelson, Jimmy Day, Johnny Bush, David Zettner) Re-Union - Can’t Get The Hell Out Of Texas BCD 16124- AH
When Willie Nelson put a band together in 1966, he called them The Offenders, and was later persuaded to rename them The Record Men. Thirty years later, the original Offenders got together again for a reunion LP. There’s Willie, steel guitar maestro Jimmy Day, drummer and vocalist Johnny Bush, and bass player David Zettner. On-hand to lend support were Kimmie Rhodes, fiddler Johnny Gimble, and pianist Floyd Domino. The result is a labor of love that includes such Texas beerhall classics as Walk Me To The Door, Canīt Get The Hell Out Of Texas, Rainy Day Blues, Linda On My Mind, and There She Goes.

ROY ORBISON Roy Rocks BCD 15916-AR
Roy Orbison would have been 70 years old on April 23, 2006.
In honor of 'The Big O's! memory Bear Family has put together a special compilation of all of Roy’s 'rockin' material - the first of its kind - from his days at Sun all the way up through RCA Victor and Monument, ending with his biggest career hit, Oh Pretty Woman.
Although Roy himself always claimed he was a ballad singer and not a rocker, the recorded evidence tells a different kind of story -- whether Roy wanted to admit it or not, he was a great rock 'n' roll performer!
This CD is a solid blast from start to finish, from such solid rockabilly stompers as Cat Called Domino and You're My Baby and of course Ooby Dooby, on up through the beat years of What'd I Say, Mean Woman Blues and other excellent tracks.
